Mr. Williams was born in Halifax County April 15, 1941 and was a member of Jeters Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Carrie Brame Williams; his mother, Marie Williams Wilkins of South Boston; 10 sons, Dallas Williams Jr., Lonnie Williams and Al Williams, all of North Carolina, Aundre Williams of Maryland, Vincent Williams and Don Williams, both of Danville, Schawn Williams of Craigsville, Dalphonso Williams of Halifax, Darryl Tyler and Derrick Givens, both of New Jersey; two daughters, Dalest Williams and Melissa Ballou, both of Danville; 11 step-children; 12 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren, including the devoted, Anika Marable; four sisters, Rozell Carrington of Hampton, Hilda Coley of New Jersey, Annie Barber and Linda Moore, both of Danville; three brothers, Richard O. The family will receive friends at the home. ELLA IRBY WALLER Ella Irby Waller of 333 Logan Street, South Boston died November 1, 1997 at Danville Regional Medical Center at the age of 75. Mrs. Waller was born in Halifax County on July 8, 1922 the daughter of Will Irby and Lucy Brooks Irby and was married to Charles Henry Waller. She was a member of Williams Temple CME Church. Survivors include two sons, Orlando Irby of Halifax and Charles Waller of South Boston; two step-daughters, Geneva Harris of Baltimore, MD and Rebecca Williams of Hackensack, NJ; one sister, Lucy Newton of Buffalo Junction; one brother, Alvin Irby of South Boston; five grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Louise Irby of Halifax; two sisters-in-law, Elvira Irby and Sylvia Irby; and other relatives and friends. MOLLIE CARRINGTON BROWN Mollie Carrington Brown of 2014 Jeffress Blvd., South Boston, formerly of Richmond, died November 1, 1997 at Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 82. Mrs. Brown was born on August 5, 1915 in New Jersey the daughter of Charlie Blunt Carrington and Nannie Jones Carrington and was married to William Isaac Brown. She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Richmond and was a retired employee of Thalhimers Department Store. Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Bessie Carrington of South Boston; one aunt, Carrie Mahoney of South Boston and other relatives and friends. MABEL KING ROLFE Mabel King Rolfe, 53, of Hog Wallow Road, Nathalie died Thursday, October 30, 1997 at Lynchburg General Hospital. Mrs. Rolfe was born in Pittsylvania County, January 5, 1944, daughter of Annie Mae King and George King. She was a member of Brookneal Church of God of Prophecy and an employee of Ericsson Corporation, Lynchburg. In addition to her mother, she is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jaimey E. and Jennifer S. Rolfe of Nathalie; one daughter, Jennifer W. Rolfe of Nathalie; one grandson, Colton G. Mason of Nathalie; two brothers, G. Ryland King and Melvin S. November 5, 1997 FRANKLIN DEPEW HENDRICKS Franklin Depew Hendricks of Clover died Friday, October 31, 1997 at home. Mr. Hendricks was born on April 15, 1914 in Eckman, WV the son of Ada Canada Hendricks and Willard Hendricks and was married to Eva Brown Hendricks. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army where he was decorated with a bronze star medal as a hero for service. He received other heroic medals also. Survivors include his wife; one son, Gilbert D. Hendricks of North Carolina; one daughter, Edith M. Hendricks of The Bronx, NY; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, David C. The family will receive friends at the home. PAUL JAMES OSBORNE Paul James Osborne, 75, of Lynchburg, died Monday, November 3, 1997 in Westminster Canterbury. He was born December 29, 1921 in Blackwater the son of John Henderson Osborne Sr. and Maude Ward Osborne and was married to Addie Bledsoe Osborne. He taught in the Lee County school system four years, served three years in the U.S. Army Quarter Master Corp, and was a professor of Biology at Lynchburg College for 32 years, retiring in 1987. He received his teaching certificate from Lincoln Memorial University, his B.A. and M.A. from the University of Virginia and his P.H.D. in biology from the University of Florida. Professor Osborne was a member of the Association of American University Professors, the Virginia Academy of Sciences, Sigma XI, (Scientific Research Society), American Institute of Biological Sciences, Chi Beta Phi and Iota Beta Gamma (science clubs at Lynchburg College), the Association of Southern Biologists and the Southeastern Electron Microscopy Society. He served as deacon and Chairman of the Board at Euclid Christian Church and more recently served as Church School teacher and on the Diaconate at First Christian Church. In addition to his wife, Professor Osborne is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul Douglas Osborne and Susan H. Osborne of Milledgeville, GA and Dennis Osborne and Mary Archer Osborne of Halifax; two brothers, John H. Osborne Jr. of Kingsport, TN and Harold S. Osborne of Silver Spring, MD; two granddaughters; two grandsons, four nephews and two nieces. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Ray Osborne, whom, like his father, was a teacher and merchant. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fort Hill Memorial Park. Following the graveside service a memorial service will be held at noon at First Christian Church. MAUD HALL BRANDON Maud Hall Brandon of 1123 Medley Road, Alton died November 2, 1997 at her home. She was 88 years of age at the time of her death. Mrs. Brandon was born April 29, 1909 in Halifax County the daughter of William Bailey Hall and Elizabeth May Olds Hall and was married to Earl Clinton Brandon. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. The funeral was held at Calvary United Methodist Church Tuesday, November 4 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Darrell Campbell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. November 7, 1998 MARVIS GRANVILLE HENDERSON Marvis Granville Henderson of 3062 Burnley Station Road, Charlottesville died November 6, 1997 at Martha Jefferson Hospital. He was 77 years of age at the time of his death. Mr. Henderson was born in Halifax County on January 29, 1920 the son of Edgar R. Henderson and Harriet Powell Henderson and was married to Maggie Jones Henderson. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Charlottesville. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Ronald Henderson of Amherst, Tommy Henderson of Lynchburg and Daniel Henderson of Wilmington, DE; one daughter, Joan H. Pease of Exton, PA; two sisters, Claire H. Walton of South Boston and Vernelle H. Fulp of Richmond; two brothers, E.R. 'Buster' Henderson of Halifax and Bob Henderson of Charlottesville; and eight grandchildren. 'Jiggs' Walton, 2500 Halifax Road. GROVER WILSON CONNER Grover Wilson Conner of 1137 Coleman Avenue, Clover died Thursday, November 6, 1997 at his home at the age of 56. Mr. Conner is survived by his wife, Linda Clay Conner; seven daughters; two sons; five sisters; one brother, and 17 grandchildren. ANITA WOMACK THROCKMORTON Anita Womack Throckmorton of South Boston died Tuesday, November 4, 1997 at Halifax Regional Hospital. She was 88 years of age at the time of her death. Mrs. Throckmorton was born in Halifax County on November 28, 1908 the daughter of Robert Lemuel Womack and Pattie Roberts Womack and was married to William Buford Throckmorton. She was a member of Dan River Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Frances T. Hilliard of Warrenton, NC and Carolyn T. Blanks of Hampton; five sons, Leonard Throckmorton of Nathalie, Billy Throckmorton of Hampton, Davis Throckmorton of Windsor, Roger Throckmorton of Vernon Hill and Cecil Throckmorton of Halifax; one sister, Alice W. Mrs. Stevens was born in Halifax County on May 20, 1913 the daughter of Felix D. Martin and Mary Powell Martin and was married to William Garland Stevens. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Brookneal. RONALD DARNELL GEE Ronald Darnell Gee of 2305, Sutphin Road, South Boston died Wednesday, November 5, 1997 at his home. He was 49 years of age. Mr. Gee was born in Halifax County on August 13, 1948 the son of Willis Alphonso Gee and Rosa Short Gee. He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church and a Vietnam Army Veteran. Survivors include one daughter, Monica Nealous of Raleigh, NC; one son, Nicholas Hughes of South Boston; his mother of South Boston; one grandson, Michael D'Andre Nealous of Raleigh, NC; four brothers, Mike Faulkner, James Gee and Ralph Gee, all of South Boston, and Willis Gee of Richmond; one son-in-law, Andre' Nealous; a devoted companion, Mable Meadows, and other relatives and friends. Born in Buckingham County on August 13, 1930, Mr. McLaughin was the son of the late George Sydnor McLaughlin and the late Mary Mottley McLaughin. He was married to Estelle Joness McLaughin. Mr. McLaughin was a member of the Winns Creek Baptist Church and the Bethel Ruritan Club. Surviving are his wife; two sons, David Scott McLaughin of Vienna and Richard Dent McLaughin of Scottsburg; one daughter, Marie Elizabeth McLaughin of Centreville; and three brothers, George McLaughin, James McLaughin, and Robert McLaughin, all of Richmond. MYRTLE FRANCES WALKER Miss Myrtle Frances Walker of 3096 Coles Ferry Road, Nathalie died Saturday, November 8, 1997 at Duke University Hospital in Durham, N.C. She was 57. Born in Halifax County on January 1, 1940, Miss Walker was the daughter of the late Sam L. Walker and the late Willie Maude Walker. Miss Walker was a member of the Ellis Creek Baptist Church. CLYDE GARNETT THROCKMORTON Clyde Garnett Throckmorton of 2 Maplewood Drive, South Boston died Saturday, November 8, 1997 at Halifax Regional Hospital. He was 60. A funeral for Mr. Throckmorton will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rudolph Jacobs conducting the service. Burial will take place in Oakland Cemetery in Scottsburg. Born in Halifax County on August 3, 1937, Mr. Throckmorton was the son of the late Clyde Warren Throckmorton and the late Susie Lankford Throckmorton. He was married to the late Betty Thaxton Throckmorton. Mr. Throckmorton was the owner and operator of Garnett's Auto Sales. Surviving are three daughters, Cheryl T. Thompson, Robin Throckmorton, and Elizabeth Throckmorton, all of South Boston; one sister, Louise T. Blanks of South Boston; and two brothers, Harrison Throckmorton of South Boston and Bonnie Throckmorton of Alton. One granddaughter, Brandy T. Allred, also survives. EVELYN VIRGINIA BACON Evelyn Virginia Bacon of 6275 Riverside Drive, Danville died Saturday at her home. She was 82. A funeral for Mrs. Bacon will be held today at 10:30 a.m at Fairview United Methodist Church in Danville with the Rev. Larry Edmonds, the Rev. Morris Bennett, and the Rev. Dr. Tom Evans conducting the service. Burial will take place Mountain View Cemetery. Born in Roanoke on October 6, 1915, Mrs. Bacon was the daughter of the late DeMoss Forbes and the late Louise Custer Forbes. She was married to the late Layton P. Bacon, Sr. Mrs. Bacon resided in Roanoke, Savannah, Ga., and was a resident of Danville for 34 years. She was retired as co-owner of Bacon Enterprises KFC and as owner of Evelyn Bacon Real Estate. Mrs. Bacon was a former member of the Victorian Danville Chapter of the ABWA and was a member of the Danville Board of Realtors. She was also the president of the Savannah Real Estate Board in Savannah, Ga. and was the first woman realtor in Savannah, Ga. Mrs. Bacon was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church. She had served as president of the United Methodist Women in Savannah, Ga. Two daughters, Bonny B. Shelton and Beth B. Boles, both of Danville, survive. Mrs. Bacon was preceded in death by a daughter, Phyllis W. Smith, and a son, Layton P. The funeral was held Friday, November 28 at 2 p.m. at Main Street United Methodist Church with Revs. Janet Given and Dean Miller conducting the service. Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery. CLINTON WAYNE TUCK Clinton Wayne Tuck of 1101 Florida Trail, Virgilina died November 30, 1997 at his home at the age of seven. He was born December 8, 1989 in Halifax County the son of Victor David Tuck Jr. and Sherry Bowen Tuck. He attended Grace Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, December 2 at 2 p.m. at North Fork Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jack Stewart officiating. Survivors include his parents; one sister, Samantha Nicole Tuck of the home; maternal grandparents, Thomas and Linda Bowen of Virgilina; paternal grandparents, Nancy and Jimmy Hatcher of South Boston and Victor and Mildred Tuck of Virgilina; maternal great-grandmothers, Doris Bowen and Verlie Carter, both of Virgilina; and paternal great-grandmother, Minnie Thomas Waggoner of Hopewell. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home tonight, December 1 from 7 until 8:30, and other times at the home.
