Pleasant, SC died Tuesday, September 1, 1998 at her home. She was 90 years of age at the time of her death. Mrs. Link was born February 9, 1908 in Crab Bottom, VA the daughter of Clarence A. Waybright and Laura Hinkle Fox Waybright and was married to Charlie W. Link. The funeral will be held at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church on Friday, September 4 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Michael Sullivan officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Survivors of Mrs. Link include one sister, Gladys L. Howard of Mt. Pleasant; five sisters-in-law, Miltie Waybright of MT, Alma L. Shutts of Parkersburg, WV, Mildred L. Rogers, Lucille L. Turner and Virginia L. Dunn, all of Alton; and one brother-in-law, Earl Link of Alton. AGNES PALMER CREWS Agnes Palmer Crews of 1731 Haskins Street, South Boston, died Monday, August 31, 1998 at Halifax Regional Hospital. She was 76 years of age at the time of her death. Mrs. Crews was born in Halifax County on November 12, 1921, the daughter of Charlie and Eunice Hudson Palmer. She was a member and former deacon of First Baptist Church in South Boston. She attended the College of William and Mary and graduated from Radford College prior to teaching in public schools in Charlotte County and Halifax County for 25 years. Her survivors include her husband, Lewis Hundley Crews of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Coleman Speece of South Boston; two grandsons, Randolph Lewis Haugh of Charlottesville and William Charles Haugh of South Boston; two sisters, Lucille Palmer Cardwell of Crystal Hill and Thelma Palmer Lacy of South Boston; one brother, Charlie Linwood Palmer of Halifax; one sister-in-law, Mary Crews Covington of Crystal Hill. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Palmer Hudson and Reba Palmer Nunn, and three brothers, Aubrey Edwin Palmer, Harvey Fulton Palmer and Cecil Albert Palmer. GARY MICHAEL CARTER Gary Michael Carter of Nathalie died Friday, September 4, 1998 at Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 49. Mr. Carter was born in Lynchburg on August 14, 1949 to Dorothy Bertone Carter of Nathalie and Pascal William Carter. He is married to Virginia Woods Carter. He is of the Baptist Faith, Army veteran and a truck driver. His survivors include his wife, mother, and step-children: Tamatha Carlton, Kenneth Carlton Jr. and Jimmy Carlton of Nathalie. ANDREW BELT LOFTIS Andrew Belt Loftis of 5182 Huell Matthews Hwy., South Boston died September 4, 1998 at Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 84. Mr. Loftis was born January 8, 1914 in Halifax County to William A. and Ollie Loftis. He was married to Virginia Solomon Loftis and was a member of Black Walnut Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Loftis was a charter member of Cluster Springs Vol. Fire Department and a member of the Woodman of the World Camp 106. His survivors include his wife; son: Allen B. Loftis of South Boston; granddaughter: Sherry L. Owen of South Boston; great-granddaughters: Jessica and Jennifer Owen of South Boston; sisters: Bertha L. Gravitt of Virgilina, Edith L. Mrs. Younger was born in Halifax County on March 13, 1914 the daughter of Arthur Lee Lewis and Mary Jennings Lewis and was married to Raleigh Jackson Younger. Garrett of Nelson; one brother, William Amos Lewis of Richmond; 30 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. FRANK LEE ADAMS Frank Lee (Candy) Adams of Blairs died Tuesday, September 15, 1998 in Berry Hill Nursing Home. He was 67 years of age at the time of his death. Mr. Adams was born on May 28, 1931 in Pittsylvania County the son of Harry Adams and Mary Burnett Adams. He was employed for a number of years by Wicks Lumber Inc. until the Danville store closed. He then was employed by the former Disston Plant in Danville until his retirement. Mr. Adams was a member of Providence United Methodist Church in the Java community, a member of American Legion Post 325 and the Improved Order of Red Men, Poquoson Tribe 124. He served with U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. Survivors of Mr. Adams include one daughter Candice A. Elliott of Buffalo Junction; three brothers, Patton C. Adams and Ben T.
