Mr. Pead was born in Halifax County on January 12, 1923, the son of John Tennie Pead and Dora Anderson Pead. Survivors include three daughters, Anne Marie Libron of King William County, Gloria D. Watkins of Rockville, Md. and Betty Sue Angle of Prince George; two sons, Merle G. Pead and J. Eddie Pead, both of Prince George; three brothers, William T. Peade of Colonial Heights, Cecil Peade of Prince George and Nathaniel Peade of South Boston; two sisters, Geraldine Broyles of Ettrick and Audrey Vaughan of Halifax County; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Graveside services for Mr. Pead will be held Wednesday, December 1, at 11 a.m. at Ellis Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Saunders conducting the service. George W. Poole George W. Poole, age 86, of Roxboro, N.C. died Sunday, November 28, 1999, at his home. Mr. Poole was a native of Person County, the son of Lum and Tincey Yancey Poole and was first married to Helen Yancey Poole and later to Ida T. Clark Poole. He was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. Funeral services were held November 30 at 2 p.m. at Olive Branch Baptist Church by Rev. Victor Blackwell. Mrs. Tunstall was the daughter of Lewis Nichols and Esther Watts Daniel and was married to Edward R. Simmons. She was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist church. Coleman and was married to Joseph Maurice Foster. She was a member of Greater New Hope Baptist Church in Washington and a former school teacher of Halifax County School System. Survivors include one brother, Leon Coleman of Halifax; one sister, Sallie Coleman Thomas of Washington; and a special cousin, Laura Coleman Watson of Dophin. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Coleman and a sister, Phyllis Coleman Jones. Walter Lewis Walter Lewis, known as Chief, of Ridgeway Road, Vernon Hill died Wednesday, December 1, 1999. Mr. Lewis, 54, was the son of the late John Isaac Lewis and Kate Stephen Lewis. He was a member of the County Line Baptist Church. Survivors include sisters Ida M. Wimbush, Grove City, Pa., Lemma Lewis of Philadelphia, Pa., Eva M. Carolyn Robertson Perrow Greenbacker Carolyn Robertson Perrow Greenbacker, age 80, died Wednesday, December 15, 1999, in Halifax Regional Hospital. Mrs. Greenbacker was the wife of retired U.S. Navy Captain and attorney John E. Greenbacker Sr. A native of Campbell County, Mrs. Greenbacker was the daughter of James S. and Maude R. Perrow. She was a graduate of the Academy of the Holy Cross in Washington, D.C. and attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, John Greenbacker Jr. of South Boston and Christopher Greenbacker of Washington; two daughters, Susan B.G. Oller of Raleigh, N.C. and Florence M.G. Linn of Gaithersburg, Md.; and five grandchildren. A memorial service and interment will be held after the first of the year. A time and place will be announced. William Aaron Throckmorton William Aaron Throckmorton, age 70, of 2090 Green Level Road, Scottsburg died December 15, 1999, at Halifax Regional Hospital. Mr. Throckmorton was born September 8, 1929, in Halifax County the son of Fuller S. Throckmorton and Lucy Edmundson Throckmorton and was married to Mary Anne Throckmorton. He was a member of Scottsburg Baptist Church, American Legion Post 8 and a charter member of Scottsburg Volunteer Fire Department. The funeral will be held at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel Saturday, December 18 at 2 p.m. with Rev. H.V. Conner officiating. Burial will take place in Oakland Cemetery. Mr. Moore was born in Pittsylvania County on September 26, 1942, the son of Willis Randolph Moore and Velora Redd Moore. He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Church of Christ. He served in the U. S. Air Force and was a retired pilot. Survivors include two sons, Willis C. Moore of San Francisco, Calif and Gary W. Moore of Raleigh, N.C.; two grandchildren, Taylor and Ashley Moore of Raleigh; his mother of Halifax; his maternal grandmother, Minnie Redd of Halifax; one brother, Jerry Moore of Halifax and one sister, Cathy M. Thornton Wilton Redd Thornton Wilton Redd, age 66, of 1402 Berry Hill Road, South Boston died December 16, 1999, at Halifax Regional Hospital. Mr. Redd was born April 22, 1933, in Pittsylvania County the son of Curtis Redd and Rebecca Kates Redd and was married to Audrey Ford McCormick Redd. He was a retired machinist with ABB and a member of Revelation Baptist Church.
