Mr. King was born in Person County, N.C. on August 23, 1930, the son of Mary King Oliver and was married to Emma Marie Gravitt King. He was a member of Elijah Grove Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held March 1 at 1 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Phillip Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Virgilina. Mr. King is survived by his wife; four daughters, Frances Gillis of Skipwith, Dorothy Mae Miller, Debra Minor and Kim Watkins, all of Virgilina; one son, Earnest King of Virgilina; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Marie Young of Poukeepsie, N.Y. Alvin Randolph Trammell Alvin Randolph "Rudy" Trammell, age 65, of 1081 Lewis Ferrell Road, South Boston, died February 28, 2000, at The Woodview. Mr. Trammell was born in Halifax County on September 25, 1934, the son of Walter Jenious Trammell and Mary Barksdale Trammell. He was a member of Arbor Baptist Church and was a supporter of Oak Level Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include two sisters, Reva Lewis of South Boston and Ethel Anderson of Halifax; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Luther George Trammell. Graveside services for Mr. Trammell will be held March 1 at Arbor Baptist Church Cemetery at 1 p.m. with Rev. Ada Coles Coleman, age 85, of Brooklyn, N.Y., formerly of Halifax, died February 25, 2000, in Brooklyn. She was born in Halifax County on January 8, 1912. James Williams Ross Pastor James Williams Ross, age 60, of Newark, N.J., formerly of South Boston, died in New Jersey. Mr. Ross was born in Halifax County on February 24, 1939, the son of Catherine Ford Ross and Earl Ross and was married to Dorothy Ross. He was a former member of Rescue Church of God and later founded the Holy Church of Life with Christ, Inc. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Vanessa Benders and Yvonne Campbell-Ross; two sons, Kelvin Redmond Ross and Darrell W. Ross; his mother of South Boston; four sisters, Barbara Hanna of Hollywood, Fla., Jean Hamilton of Atlantic City, N.J., Catherine Ann Baker of Forestville, Md. and Dinetta Betts of Hartford, Conn.; three brothers, Earl Ross Jr. of Sea Pleasant, Md., Elder Billy Ross of South Boston and Buster Ross of Danville; one son-in-law, Hilton Benders; 11 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. She was the daughter of Morell and Clara Snead Elliott and was married to Ferrell Thomas Pulliam. She was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church and retired from Collins & Aikman Corp. She was married to the late James "Buster" Allen and was a member of the St. Matthew Baptist Church. Mr. Pulliam was born in Halifax County on January 9, 1932, the son of Walter Lee Pulliam and Alpha Pulliam and was married to Elizabeth Pulliam. Mr. Wilborn was born in South Boston on August 6, 1916, the son of James B. Wilborn Sr. and Zulene Shanks Wilborn and was married first to Emma Keene and then to Rebecca Williams Wilborn. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of South Boston, a graduate of the University of Richmond, where he was a member of Cappa Sigma Fraternity and the track team. He was an Army veteran of WWII, a flight instructor at Luke Field in Arizona and West Point in New York. He also served on the South Boston Town Council. Mr. Quinn was the son of Ms. Rosalinda Russell Quinn of Hillsborough, and Eddie Thomas Quinn, Sr. of South Boston. Quinn was employed by Daniels Paving Service and had attended Abundant Life Church in Hillsborough. He is also survived by his brother, Eddie Thomas Quinn, Jr. of Hillsborough; a half-brother, Fred Quinn, of South Boston; and his half-sister, Anita Lynn Glass, of Nathalie. Miss Powell was born in Halifax County on July 5, 1901, the daughter of William Burton Powell and Elma Carlton Powell. She was a lifetime member of Asbury United Methodist Church and taught in the Halifax County school system for 46 years. Survivors include one foster son (nephew) Frank Lawson Powell of Farmville, N.C.; a special great niece, Mary Catherine Harrison of Keswick; and 14 nieces and nephews. Born February 24, 1918, in Halifax County she was a daughter of Spencer E. Covington and Bessie Conner Covington and was married to Elbert Mason Lewis. She was a graduate of James Madison College, a member of First Baptist Church of Gretna, a retired teacher with Pittsylvania County School System, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Honorary Teachers Society, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and active in the Pittsylvania County Special Olympics. Survivors include three sisters, Virginia Hardie of Clover, Bernice Conner and her husband, Fulton of Nathalie and Patsye Irby and her husband, Carroll of Midlothian.
