Mr. Majors was born in Halifax County on February 24, 1940, the son of the late Abner Majors and Dorothy Edmondson Majors. He was married to Stacey Smedley Majors and was a member of St. Paul CME Church. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Delores Gardner of Newport News, Shirley Majors, Barbara Majors and Vickie Majors, all of Bridgeport, Ct.; three sons, Timothy Smedley Majors of Port Jervis, N.Y., Warren Harris Majors of Bloomingburg, N.Y. and Tony Majors of Bridgeport; one sister, Margaret Carter of Halifax; three brothers, Robert Majors of Middletown, N.Y., Lawrence Majors of Nathalie and Victor Majors of South Boston; 17 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Richard Thomas Rudd Richard Thomas Rudd, 71, of 2087 Cody Road, Nathalie, died November 30 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He is the husband of JoAnn Sease Rudd. Mr. Rudd was born in Halifax County on June 7, 1930, son of the late John William Rudd and Mary Fisher Rudd. He is a member of First Baptist Church of Republican Grove and Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Rudd was a retired employee of Courtland Manufacturing Co. In addition to his wife, survivors include one daughter, Rebecca Rudd Burton and her husband, John Wesley of Nathalie; one granddaughter, Stephanie Dawn Hall and her husband, Joe of Nathalie; one great-grandchild, Tyler Lee Driskill; and one sister, Mary R. Wyatt and her husband, Ben of Gretna. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. today, December 3 at the First Baptist Church of Republican Grove Cemetery. Delphine Marshall Miller Delhine Marshall Miller, 73, of 300 Hamilton Blvd., South Boston, died November 30 in Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born on June 26, 1928, in the Bachelor's Hall community of Pittsylvania County, a aughter of Robert Marshall and Bessie Pearson Marshall. She had been a resident of South Boston for several years. Survivors of Mrs. Miller include her husband, Carl E. Miller of Danville; two daughters, the Rev. Vickie R. Seibert of Virginia Beach and Donna R. Swanson of South Boston; two brothers, Neal Marshall and Ben 'Shirley B.' Marshall, both of Danville; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Christine Motley and three brothers, Elmo Marshall, Robert Marshall and Marvin Marshall. Royal Brandon Royal Brandon of Nathalie died November 30 at Halifax Regional Hospital. Mr. Brandon was born in Halifax County on October 20, 1916, and was 85 years of age at the time of his death. He was the son of the late William Brandon and Rosa Lee Coleman Brandon. Survivors include a devoted cousin, Emma Stovall; and two nieces. Burial will take place in the family cemetery in Vernon Hill. Edwin Nelms Black III Edwin Nelms Black III, 66, of 725 Marshall Avenue, South Boston, died December 2 at Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born in South Boston on October 13, 1935, the son of Edwin Nelms Black Jr. and Marion Stortz Black and was married to Elizabeth Conner Black. Mr. Black was the last owner and operator of The Star Laundry and Cleaners, a local business founded by his grandfather, Eben Nelms Black in 1898. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, the Woodmen of the World Lodge 106, and was the former registrar for the City of South Boston. Mr. Black is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mary J. Tuck of Altavista; one step son, Dexter Page Bomar of South Boston; two granddaughters, Mary E. Ms. McCargo was born in Halifax County on January 11, 1938, the daughter of the late Isaiah McCargo Sr. and Virginia Green McCargo. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in New York and a former member of Spanish Grove Baptist Church in Scottsburg. James Wesley Quarles James Wesley Quarles, 57, of 6076 Clarkton Road, Nathalie, died December 25 at his home. Mr. Robertson was born in Danville on June 26, 1947, the son of the late William B. Robertson and Hattie McCrickard Robertson Hardy and was married to Alice Julian Robertson. Robertson and wife, Jennifer, all of Danville; two brothers, Calvin Robertson and David Robertson, both of Danville; three sisters, Mary Rigney and Frances Stevens, both of Danville and Deborah Foster of South Boston; one grandson, Byron Robertson. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cassie Robertson.
