HALIFAX COUNTY, VIRGINIA - DANIEL LAFFOON OBIT, FORMER RESIDENT Submitted for use in the USGenWeb Archives by Carl M urdock DIED Ironton Register (OH) April 24, 1862 DANIEL LAFFOON died in Rome, near Quaker Bottom, Ohio, April 1, 1862. He was born November 5, 1775 in Halifax County, Virginia. He came to Lawrence county in 1811. He had one or two brothers who served in the revolutionary war. He served in the suppression of the Whiskey rebellion, and was with the expedition against Fort Pitt in 1795, but for want of proper proof never obtained a Land warrant. Quite a number of his grandsons are in the army. He was an exemplary member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for over 40 years. The pioneer preachers made his house a home. His end was peace.
