Will of Sarah Ferguson, 1844 - Halifax Co. VA I Sarah Ferguson of the County of Halifax and State of Virginia being of sound mind and in good health do make this my last Will and testament in the name of God Amen. 1st My will is that all of my perishable property to sold and out of the money arising from I want all my just debts paid. 2nd I then give my son Pleasant Ferguson one dollar and no more 3rd I give to the children of my son Joseph Ferguson one dollar and no more. 4th I give to the children of my daughter Rebecca Dunman one dollar and no more. 5th I give to the children of my daugher Elizabeth Anderson one dollar and no more. 6th I give to the children of my daughter Sarah Anderson one dooar and no more. 7th I give my daugher Jane Beasley one dollar and no more. 8th I give my granddaughter Emily A. Ferguson one dollar and no more. 9th The balance if any I give to the children of my son Jacob H. Ferguson. 10th I lend my son Jacob H. Ferguson during his life the tract of land I now now live on containing 266 acres and my two old negroes Caleb and Charity to raise his children on. But neither the land nor the negroes nor any of the profits arising from them are to be subject to the payment of any debt trade or contract made by my son Jacob H. Ferguson but for the benefit of the children of my son Jacob H. Ferguson. 11th At the death of my son Jacob H. Ferguson my will is that both the aforesaid land and the negroes be sold and the money arising from such sale be equally divided among the children of my son Jacob H. Ferguson. 12th I now leave my son Jacob H. Ferguson guardian for his children without security. 13th I now leave my son Jacob H. Ferguson and my friend John W. Boyd executors to this my last will without their being bound to give security for their performance. In witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 29th day of April 1844.
