A native of Mercer County, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Willie Roy Linkous and Fannie Elizabeth Vincent Linkous and was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Ann Linkous; a daughter, Carolyn Harris; and three sons, Philip E. Linkous, Donald Weast and Robert Weast Sr.; and a sister, Fredia Goodman. A U.S. Marine veteran, he retired as a driver from the Coca Cola Bottling Company. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, Virginia Association of the Blind, Blind Tidewater Bowler's Association, and the Visually Impaired Group of Virginia Beach. Surviving are his wife, Nawatha Jean Linkous; three daughters, Linda Putnam and her husband John of Chesapeake, Fredia Wright and her husband Jeffrey of Greensboro, N.C., and Sue Weast Gregory of Salisbury, Md.; four sons, Harold Wayne Linkous of Virginia Beach, Larry Weast of Riverside, Calif., and Leon Weast and Charles Weast, both of Chesapeake; more than 50 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Willie Roy Linkous of Bluefield, W.Va., and James Linkous of Lancaster, Calif. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel, with Pastor James Baker officiating. Burial will be in Hampton National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel, today from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions should be made to the Virginia Association of the Blind, 4209 George Washington Highway, Portsmouth, VA 23702.
