Norfolk - A funeral service for Thomas J. Newby of 834 Goff  street was held 
Tuesday in Graves Funeral Chapel.  Burial followed in Hampton National Cemetery.

The Newport News native died Jan. 20 in his home.  He was the husband of Mrs. 
Hattie Newby and an Army veteran of World War I.

Also surviving are three stepdaughters, Mrs. Ethelene Smith, Miss Sallie Smith and 
Miss Pamela Smith of Norfolk.
