HANOVER COUNTY, VA - CEMETERIES – “Shrubbery Hill” Cemetery ----¤¤¤---- Source: Library of Virginia Digital Collection LVA Titled Files: Survey Report, Shrubbery Hill burial ground: 1937 Jan. 23 Research made by James Archer Evans Cemetery Location: On west side of Route #4 (Old mountain road) .5 mile north of North Anna River, 23 miles northwest of Richmond City limits. Hanover County, Virginia DATE: 1840. OWNERS: The present (1937) owner, Mr. Virgil P. Randolph, has the utmost respect for the sacred ground and will not allow it to be disturbed. DESCRIPTION: The Crenshaw burial ground is located in a plot just south of the old house. It is about 75 feet square with a four foot brick wall entirely surrounding it. There are some unmarked graves. There are several old box woods and other arbor vitae planted in the yard. The following markers remain: Eliza L. Crenshaw Born March 9, 1795 Died Sept. 2, 1862 Nathaniel C. Crenshaw Born July 2, 1791 Died May 22, 1866 Edmund B. Crenshaw Died Aug. 27, 1845 In the 59th year of his age John B. Crenshaw Born May 2, 1820 Died May 10, 1889 Margaret Crew Dec. 3, 1863 Rachel Hoge wife of John B. Crenshaw Born Aug. 28, 1817 Died Nov. 20, 1858 HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: None.
