Given under my hand May 6th 1785. Signed: John Winston At a Court continued and held for Hanover County Saturday the 7th of May 1785 It appears to the Court that Hannah Gregory the widow of Charles Gregory dec'd and the mother of William Gregory also dec'd has a right to the arrears of pay due the said Charles and William who died in the Continental Service. Gregory who died in the Service in the 14th Virginia Regt. as I have ever understood and believe. Signed: Thomas Price I certifie that Ch. Gregory above naned (named) died in the 14th Virg. Regimet (Regiment) Having enlisted in Capt. Winston's Company in that regimet as a serjeant for three years. Signed: John Overton--formerly Capt. 14th Regiment I do, with the advice of this Council, hereby certify that Hannah Gregory, widow of Charles Gregory who was a serjeant in the 14th Virginia Regiment and who died in the service of the Continent, is allowed the sum of eighteen pounds yearly, commencing on the first day of January 1786. Gven under my hand as Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, at Richmond, this 19th day of January 1786. Signed: P. Henry Louisa County to wit: Ann Gregory and Elizabeth Gregory, both of Lawful age, this day made oath in due form of law, before me William Nilson Jr. a Justice of the Peace for said County, that Hannah Gregory, the widow of Charles Gregory a soldier in the Revolutionary War departed this life on the sixth day of November 1822.
