BLUNT'S EXORS &C. 1873 (49) Francis Blunt's Will Blunt, Francis. "I, Francis Blunt of the County of Hanover, do make this my last will and Testament in manner and form folling, viz: 1st. I loan to my wife Elizabeth D. Blunt for and during her natural life the use of the west room in my dwelling house. Also my negro woman Betsey, One Choice Cow, Two best feather beds, bedsteads and one bureau, one large chest, one press, six chairs, two walnut tables and as much of my other furniture as may be necessary for her convencience. 2nd. I give to my son Charles W. Blunt my negro man named John and my negro boy named Boston to him and his heirs forever. 3rd. I give to my son John H. Blunt the tract of land whereon I now reside containing by estimation two hundred and thrity-five acres be the same more or less, and at the death of my said wife, I give to my said son John H. Blunt, Betsey and her future increase from this time to him and his heirs. 4th. I give to my daughter Martha Ann Parr my negro boy named Joe and my negro girl named Ella and the future increase of said girl to her and her heirs. 5th. I loan to my daughter Ellen M. Phillips for an during her natural life my negro girl Bettie, And at the death of my said daughter my will is that the slaves so loaned her, and the future increase of said girl, Bettie be equally devided among the chldren that she now has and those that she may hereafter have to them and their heirs. 6th. I give to my daughter Sarah F. Jones my negro boy named William and my negro girl named Amy and the future increase of said girl Amy to her and her heirs. 7th. I give to my five grand-children, to wit Elizabeth A. Tiller, Mary E. Bumpass, Frances L. Bumpass, John S. Bumpass, and Francis B. Bumpass, children of Jesse F. Bumpass, my negro woman Mary and her two children Sam and Mary, to them and their heirs. 8th. I give to my son in law Jesse Bumpass my interest in a bond executed by him (and I believe I am security) to H. H. Wingfield appointed a receiver to rent out the mills owned by Thomas Perrin and myself. 9th. I give to my grand daughter Elizabeth F. Phillips my silver tea spoons. To my daughter Martha Ann Parr's oldest daughter I give my silver kettle spoons. To my grandson Francis B. Bumpass my shot gun, and to my grand son William F. Blunt my silver watch - to them and their heirs. 10th. It is my will and desire that all the property that I may own at the time of my death not heretofore disposed of, both real and personal be sold by my exectors hereinafter named either privately or publicly as they may deem best, and the money arising from such sales, as also all the money that I may have, or may be owing to me at the time of my death be put out on interest. The interest of which to go to the comfortable support of my said wife during her life. 11th. After the death of my said wife my will is that all the money that may be on hand, or owing my estate, and the furniture and stock loaned her be equally divided among my five children, Charles W. Blunt, John H. Blunt, Martha Ann Parr, Ellen M. Phillips, and Sarah F. Jones to them and their heirs. 12th. I do appoint my friend William W. Mallory and my son John H. Blunt Trustees for Ellem M. Phillips, and her children. Lastly I do appoint my friends Richard B. Hendrick, William W. Mallory and my son John H. Blunt executors to this my last will and testamant revoking all others heretofore made or subscribed by me. In witness whereof I have set my hand and affixed my seal this first day of July 1851." At a Court of Monthly Session held for Hanover County at the Courthouse on Tuesday the 26 of August 1851. This last will and testament of Francis Blunt, dec'd, was proved by the oaths of Wm. D. Winston and Joseph F. Hughes the witnesses thereto and is ordered to be rocorded. Teste, Wm. O. Winston,C.H.C. A copy, Teste, Wm. O. Winston C.H.C. Francis Blunt, of Hanover, died 9 July 1851. Will dated 1 July 1851, proved 26 Aug. 1851 by the witnesses. Wm. W. Mallory and John H. Blunt qualified Executors. Estate valued at $8,000. Survived by widow, Elizabeth D. Blunt who died circa 1 Oct. 1853. In this suit, only issue surviving in 1873 were involved, and no grandchildren stated, though several were mentioned in his will. Apprent issue: 1. CHARLES E. BLUNT 2. JOHN H. BLUNT 3. MARTHA ANN, wife or widow of a Mr. Parr 4. ELLEN M., wife of William Phillips, and have issue perhaps among others: 1. ELIZABETH F. PHILLIPS. 5. SARAH F., wife of Patrick F. Jones of Louise, Va., who was born 23 Jan. 1818. 6. DAUGHTER, dec'd (mentioned in will) who married Jesse Bumpass, and left issue: 1. ELIZABETH A. TILLER (perhaps married) 2. MARY E. BUMPASS. 3. FRANCES L BUMPASS. 4. JOHN S. BUMPASS. 5. FRANCIS B. BUMPASS.
