Garner Cemetery Location: 3.7 miles southeast of Richmond, Va., on Rt #5, thence east on Ammond Creek Road, also called Rickerstaff Road, 1.1 miles on the south side, 10 yards from the road. Henrico County This plot is located in a beautiful spot but has no enclosure. It is not well cared for, although with one exception, the marble stones are well preserved. There are a number of graves here that have no markers. In memory of Mary Herbert Wife of James M. Herbert Who departed this life June 10th, 1858 Aged 30 years “Oh soothe her whose pleasures life thine pass away. Fall quickly but they never are forgotten” In memory of Elizabeth Herbert Wife of Wm. A. Herbert Born June 4th, 1833 in Norfolk County, Va. Died Jan. 8th, 1855 “Blessed are they that die in the Lord, for they cease from their troubles” In memory of Wm. A. Herbert Born July 23rd, 1830 In Henrico County, Va. Died Dec. 12th, 1854 “In the morning life flourisheth and groweth up, in the evening it is cut down and withereth in the dust” In memory of Adline Bevridge Born November 29, 1812 Died Jan. 21, 1894 “At rest” In Memory of Mrs. Elizabeth Hughes Consort of Richard Hughes, Esq. She was born the 11th day of Nov. 1795 And departed this life on the 4th of April, 1826 There is another tombstone which is so badly broken that the inscription is gone. However the footstone has the initials “R.H.” on it. As this stone is beside the one whose inscription is noted above, it seems probable that this is the grave of Richard Hughes, Esq.
