This cemetery was in the direct path of some of the heaviest fighting around Richmond during the War Between the States. The shaft which shows where the only marked grave is, is inscribed as follows: Erected to the memory of James Hopkinson and Mary his wife who departed this life 29th. of April 1836 Age 65 ___ the 20th of February 1842.
