All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Written: 1716 JOHN WEBB TO PETER BAZE – 250 ACRES – HENRICO CO., VA - 1716 ==================== Henrico County November Court 1716 -------------------- This Indenture made and Concluded this fifth day of November Anno Domini one thousand Seven hundred and Sixteen Between John Webb of the Parish and County of Henrico of the one part and Peter Baze of the same parish and County of the other Part Witnesseth that the aforesaid John Webb for the valuable Consideration of twelve pounds common pay of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said Peter Baze the receipt whereof he the said John Webb doth hereby acknowledge and himselfe therewith fully satisfyied Contented and paid hath ~ bargained Sold aliend enfeoffed and Confirmed unto the said Peter Baze and by these presents doth bargain sell alien enfeoffe and Confirm unto the aforesaid Peter Baze and his heirs forever one certain tract or parcell of Land lying and being in the County of Henrico and on the lower side of the westernmost main branch of Beaver Dam Creek it being part of a tract of Land he the said Webb bought of Joseph Pleasants and bounded as followeth beginning at a corner Gum on Beaver Dam Creek thence East and by South two hundred thirty and Six pole to a Corner black Oak thence South and by West one hundred Seventy two pole to [a] Corner white Oak thence West four degrees North to Beaver Dam Creek thence up the said Creek to the place began and within those lines including two hundred and fifty Acres of Land be the same more or less To have and to hold the abovesaid two hundred and fifty Acres of Land with every the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said Peter Baze and his heirs forever and the aforesaid John Webb to further Covenant and agree that he the said John Webb his heirs &c. shall and will forever warrant and defend the above sold land to the said Peter Baze and his heirs forever Provided he the said Peter Baze his heirs &c. shall and will forever comply with the Conditions of the patent by which this Land is held the said patent being granted unto Joseph Pleasants for five hundred and fifty Acres of Land of which this said two hundred and fifty is part In witness whereof the said John Webb have hereunto Set my hand & Seal the day and Year above written. John Woodson Stephen Hughes John Webb {Seal} (his “X” sign) Memorandum: This fourth [sic] day of November Anno Dom: 1716 peaceable and quiet possession of the land and hereditaments within [mentioned] to be granted was had and taken by John Webb and by him was delivered unto Peter Baze In their proper persons according to the tenor form & effect of the within [mentioned] Deed In presence of us – John Woodson Stephen Hughes At a Court held for Henrico County the fifth day of November 1716.
