I do with the advice of Council hereby certify that John Corbett, about 43 years of age, late a soldier in the Corps of Invalids was disabled in such a manner while in the service as to entitle him to the sum of six pounds yearly, which allowance is accordingly made him , to commence from the 1st day of January 1786. General and Commander in Chief of the Forces of the United States of America This is to certify that the bearer thereof John Corbett in the Invalid Regiment having faithfully for five years and six months and being enlisted for the war only is hereby discharged from the American Army. Given at HeadQuarter this 11th day of June 1783 Signed: George Washington Headquarters: The above certificate shall not avail the bearer and a discharge untill a ratification of a definitive treaty of peace previous to which time and proclamation thereof shall be made and he shall be considered as being on furlough.
