Son John Pleasants, 3 negroes; Son Joseph Pleasants, for consideration hereafter given him shall pay or cause to be paid to my son John Pleasants £100 currency in 12 months after my death, but should said Joseph fail therein then to son John part of tract of land whereon I now live, bounded as follows: by run of Horse Swamp to River Chickahominey; he being oldest to take his choice either that part of tract lying on North or South side of Horse-Swamp; Daughter Susanna Storrs, 8 negroes, during her life, after her death to her children share and share alike, or to the survivors of her children or their issue. Son James Pleasants, negroes. Daughter Ursula Brooke, 6 negroes (in same way as left to Susanna Storrs) Son Joseph Pleasants, 4 negroes. Son Joseph to maintaine negro woman Bess comfortably - not to exact or require any labour from her more than she is willing to do. To son Joseph, whole tract of land whereon I now live, provided he pay my son John £100 currency in 12 months after my death, should he refuse, land to be divided between them as specified in bequest to son John. Son Archibald 6 negroes. Son Matthew Pleasants 3 negroes, goods and chattels, horse, my watch, largest gun, my walnut desk, cattle. Grandson John Woodson Ellis, 2 negroes. Grand daughter Catherine Ellis, 2 negroes. Estate not to be inventoried (?) or appraised. Executors my five sons John, James, Joseph, Archibald and Matthew Pleasants.
