HENRICO COUNTY, VIRGINIA - WILLS Thomas Lockett's will, dated 27 Mar 1686, probated 1 June 1686 (Henrico) VA. "I, Thomas LOCKETT of the Parish of Bristol in the County of Henrico, being weak in body but of perfect memory make and ordain my last will and testament in the manner and form following. Viz: I count my soul to Almighty God that gave it and my body to be decently buryed at ye discretion of my wife and she to be my sole executor of this my last will and testament-- First I give unto my oldest son Benjamin Lockett all the land between the spring and Deep Bottom joining Peirles to the creek, called lately Scotland Hills and to his heirs forever. 2nd. I give and bequeath unto James Lockett and Thomas Lockett the land I now live on to be divided, my son Thomas the Plantation I now live on and to his heirs forever, beginning at the River and South by the old tobacco house and up the hill, there taking the path as far as the land goes. 3rd. I give and bequeath to my son James Lockett to his part and his heirs forever -- beginning at the lower landing so taking a direct course by the old tobacco house being north and next to the creek and so to a Pohicory, a marked tree on the line and have its breadth to a shooting hole and along the creek to him and his heirs forever. I give to my eldest daughter Susan Lockett one young mare known by the name of Lilly, formerly given with her increase; my desire that the Court of Henrico see this my last will and testament be performed. Given under my hand and seal this twenty seventh day of March in the year of our Lord Christ, 1686. Records 1677, p 367 === Submitter: Mildred Wright Fournier PO Box 1967 Lake City, FL 32056 fournier@hankins.com MARGARET LOCKETT - 1708 Will of Margaret Lockett, dated 22 May 1708, probated 1 Jul 1708 (Henrico) VA states: "In the name of God, Amen -- the 22 day of May 1708, I Margaret Lockett of the Parish of Bristol in the County of Henrico, being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and memory, please be Almighty God, do make and ordaine, constitute and appoint this my last will and testament in manner following, first and principally I recommend my soul to God that gave it to me hoping through the merits and mediations of Jesus Christ my Redeemer to have full pardon and Remission of my sins in full and certain hope of a joyful Resurrection at the last day and my body to the earth from whence it was taken, to be buried in such decent manner as my executors hereafter shall think fit and convenient, and for such worldly estate as it hath pleased God of his Infinite Goodness to bestow upon me, I give and bequeath that as forwith Viz: 1st. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Standley, one feather bed and bolster, being the same which I usually lie on, with one blanket and one cow named Duckey with whatever she shall increase to her and her heirs forever. Item -- I give to my sons Benjamin and Thomas Lockett and my daughters Susan Griggs and Mary Mitchell to each and every one of them one shilling sterling to be paid by my executors hereafter named -- all the rest of my estate of what nature or quality soever I give and bequeath to my son James Lockett and do make him whole and sole executor of this my last will and testament.
