Henry County Deed Book 5 (1792-1797) Deed book located at the Henry County Courthouse, Martinsville, VA Deed - Bellerophan Smith from John Jonnykin [JARNAGIN] Pp 15-16 This Indenture made this seventh day of August One thousand Seven hundred & Ninety two Between John Jonykin of the County of Hawkins of the one part of the the one part and Bellerophan Smith of the County of Henry and State of Virginia of the other part. Witnesseth that the said John Jonnykin for and in Consideration of the sum of fifty Pounds Current Money to him to him in hand paid by the Bellerophan Smith the Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge hath bargained sold and by these presents doth bargain sell alien and confirm unto him the said Bellerophan Smith his heirs and assigns forever one Certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County aforesaid Containing by Estimation one hundred and fifty acres be the same more or less and bounded as followeth To wit; Beginning at a Walnut thence down a branch to the Creek Crossing the Creek to a black gum thence a new line to a black oak thence North Seventy six degrees East to a red oak thence South Eleven degrees East twenty poles to a red oak North Sixty degrees East thirty Six Poles to Crossing the Creek to a white Oak North forty two West fifty four poles to pointers North Eighty Six degrees West Crossing one branch to a red oak on his own line thence North along a new line between himself and Sherod Mays to a black gum on the back line thence Westerly along the old line to a beech(?) thence Southerly along the same line to the Beginning the Reversion & Reversions Remainder and Remainders Right and Estate interest and Benefit Claim and demand whatsoever of the said John Jonnykin of in or to same or any part thereof to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land and all and Singular the Premises with their(?) and every(?) of appurtenances to the only use and behoof of him the said Bellerophan Smith his heirs and assigns forever and the said John Jonnykin Doth hereby for himself and his heirs Warrant and Defend the same for use from the Claim or title of any person or persons whatsoever.
