This Indenture Made this 6th Day of December in the year of our Lord One 
thousand Seven hundred and Ninety Between Robert Hughes of Henry County, 
of the one part and Martin Amos of the same County Witnesseth that the 
said Robert Hughes for and in Consideration of Sixty pounds Current Money 
to him in hand paid the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and 
himself fully Satisfied and paid hath given granted bargained sold 
released and confirmed doth give grant bargain and sell unto the said 
Martin Amos one Certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in County 
of Henry on both sides of Buffalow Creek and Bounded as followeth to wit:
Beginning at a Chestnut tree in John Kindricks line thence new lines South
 fifty five degrees West one hundred and forty six poles to a poplar in 
Hughes line thence along the sd Hughes line as it _____ to a Small branch 
of Smith River thence up the said branch on East Cours as it meanders to 
a ridge thence new line alonge the sd ridge a South East Course to the 
end of ridge crossing a branch to the old line at a white oak South 
Seventy four degrees  East Seventy four poles to a red oak saplin South 
twenty Six degrees and a half East Sixty Six poles to a white oak near 
the creek oposite the mouth of branch  thence across the creek and up the 
said branch as it meanders to pointers thence off north forty one degrees 
East twenty five poles to a chestnut tree North ten degrees East seventy 
two poles crossing a branch to a white oak on a hill North forty poles to 
a black oak on a small branch North thirty six degrees West Seventy one 
poles to a white oak North fifty degrees West Eighty two poles to a white 
oak north twenty two degrees East fifty <sixty??) Eight poles to a black 
gum and thence North forty five degrees West crossing the creek along 
John Kindricks line Seventy Six poles to the first Station with its 
appurtenances Containing two hundred and forty acres more or less to 
have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with all the 
improvements of all sorts and kind whatsoever as also all woods water 
ways wrights previledges to the sd Martin Amos his heirs and assigns 
forever and to and for the only use and behoof of him the sd Martin Amos 
his heirs and assigns forever and to and for no other intent intents or 
purpose whatsoever and good quiet full peaceable possession of the said 
two hundred and forty acres of land and premises pertaining to the sd 
Robert Hughes doth hereby Warrant unto the said Martin Amos his heirs 
and assigns forever to be free and clear of all clames morgages whatsoever
of any sort or kind in witness whereof the sd Robert Hughes hereunto set 
his hand and seal the day and year above written.

Memorandom that on the 6th day of Decemb One thousand Seven hundred and 
ninety full possession and s____ was had and taking of the land and 
premises within granted by sd within mentioned Robert Hughes and by him 
Delivered over to the within delivered over to the within named Martin 
Amos to hold to him and his heirs forever according to the contents of 
the within written Indenture.
