Deed - James Taylor to John May, 1794 FHL Film # 0031967 - Henry County Deed Book 5 (1792-1797) Deed book located at the Henry County Courthouse, Martinsville, VA PP 97-98 This Indenture Made this 27th Day of January in the year of our Lord Christ One thousand seven hundred and ninety four Between James Taylor of the County of Henry of the one part and John May of the same County of the other part Witnesseth that the said James Taylor for and in Consideration of fifty pounds Current money of Virginia to him in hand paid the Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge hath bargained and sold and by these presents doth bargain sell and deliver unto the aforesaid John May his heirs and assigns one certain tract or parcel of land containing Thirty Seven acres be the same more or less Lying and being in the County of Henry on the Marrowbone Creek and is thus bounded Beginning at a Corner Chestnut in S_____s line thence on the said line to a corner maple on a branch thence down the said branch as it meanders to Marrowbone Creek thence up the said creek as it meanders to a Corner hickory thence a new line to the Beginning and now in the possession of the said John May to have and to hold the aforesaid land and premises with the appurtenances thereunto belonging to him his heirs and assigns forever. Together with all the Estate fee simple Right and title of in and to the same and the said James Taylor and his heirs the aforesd land and premises unto the said John May his heirs and assigns against him the said James Taylor and his heirs and all other persons does Warrant and by these presents will forever defend In Witness whereof he hath hereunto set his hand & affixt his seal the day and date above Written.
