Deed - David Mayse to George Hairston, 1797 FHL Film # 0031967 - Henry County Deed Book 5 (1792-1797) Deed book located at the Henry County Courthouse, Martinsville, VA PP 360-361 This Indenture made this 28th Day of August 1797 Between David Mayse of Henry County & State of Virginia of the one part & George Hairston of the other part Witnesseth that the said David Mayse for & in consideration of the sum of five Shillings to him in hand paid by the sd Geo. Hairston the receipt whereof the said Mayse doth acknowledge & himself fully satisfied, Contented & paid, hath given, granted bargained & sold & by these presents doth give grant bargain & sell, deliver and Confirm to the sd Hairston a certain tract piece or parcel of land containing fifty acres more or less lying & being in the County of Henry and bound as follows To wit: Beginning on the old line of Henry Mays dec'd at a post oak thence west to the corner white oak, thence South west to the long branch to a corner white oak thence up the sd branch to the old line thence along the old line to the first station with all and singular the priviledges & appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appurtaining to have & to hold the above land and premises with the appurtenances to him the sd Hairston his heirs Exrs Adminrs. & assigns forever to have, hold, use, occupy, possess, enjoy the same with every part and parcel (?) thereof to him the said Geo. Hairston his Exr Adminrs & assigns against me my heirs Exers. Adminrs & assigns & against the claim and demand of any other person or persons whatsoever shall ____ by these presents warrant & forever defend In Witness whereof the said David Mayse have hereunto set my hand and seal the day & year above written.
