Henry County Deed Book 1 (1777-1779) Deed book located at the Henry County Courthouse, Martinsville, VA Deed - Abraham Mays from Henry & Phebe Mays Pp 210-211 This Indenture Made the seventeenth day of April in the year of Indepency being delivered by the United States of America in the year one Thousand Seven hundred seventy nine Between Henry Mays & Phebe his wife of Henry County in the Colony of Virginia of the one part & Abraham Mays his son of part & County of aforesaid Witnesseth that for & in consideration of the sum of Thirty pounds Current Money of Virginia by the sd Abraham Mays to the sd Henry Mays in hand pd the Receipt whereof acknowledged sd Henry Mays & Pheby his wife hath given granted bargained & sold & by these presents doth give grant bargain and sell unto the said Abraham Mays his heirs and assigns a certain tract of land lying & being in the County aforesd & along ______ on the south side of Marrowbone (?) Creek and bounded To wit: beginning at the mouth of a small branch on sd creek ___________ ________________________________________________________________ To have and to hold the aforesd one hundred acres of land with the appurtenances and all rights, privileges & Improvements to the same in any _____ belonging to him the sd Abraham Mays to him his heirs or assigns forever forever & the sd Henry Mays & Pheby his wife for themselves their heirs or assigns do hereby covenant and agree & to with the sd Abraham Mays That he the sd Abraham Mays his heirs & assigns shall & may forever Hereafter peaceably & Quietly have & hold occupy possess & Injoy the aforesd grant of land & premises without the Court Molestation of any person whatsoever & free & clear from all manner of Encumbrances whatsoever the sd Henry Mays & Pheby his wife do oblige themselves their heirs Exectrs. adm. & Assigns to Warrant & defend the aforesd Land premises to him the sd Abraham Mays his heirs & Assigns forever against the claim of all persons whosoever.
