Henry County Deed Book 3 (1784-1789) Deed book located at the Henry County Courthouse, Martinsville, VA Deed - John Smith from Henry Mayse Page 403 This Indenture made this Twentfifth Day of October one Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty Seven By and Between Henry Mayse of the County of Henry of the one Part and John Smith of the said County of the other part: Witnesseth that the said Henry Mayse for and in consideration of the sum of five Pounds Current Money to him in hand paid by the said John Smith the Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge hath Bargaind sold and by these Presents do Bargain sell alien and Confirm unto him the said John Smith his heirs and assigns forever one Certain Track or Parcell of Land Lying, and being in the County aforesaid Containing by Estimation fifty acres be same more or less and Bounded as followeth To wit: Beginning at a white oak in John Witts old line Thence up the Ridge as the Path goes to a white Oak by the side of the Path t Thence Northward along a New line to the back old line to a Black oak thence Eastward Crossing the North fork of fall Creek to a Black oak Thence Southward Cross the Creek to the first Station The Reversion and Reversions Remainder and Remainders Right and Estate Interest and Benefit Claim and Demand Whatsoever of the sd Henry Mayse of in & to the same or any part thereof To have and to hold the sd tract or Parcell of land and all & singular the Premises with their & every of their appurtenances to the only use & behoof of him the sd John Smith his heirs and assigns forever and the said Henry Mayse doth hereby for himself and his heirs Warrant and Defend forever from the Claim or title of any Person or Persons Whatsoever.
