One thousand Seven hundred and Ninety Between John Ward and his Wife of Campbell County of the one part and William McAlexander of Henry County & John McAlexander of Amherst County of the other part Witnesseth that they said John Ward & his Wife for and in Consideration of one hundred pounds to them in hand paid the Receipt whereof they do Acknowledge & themselves fully Satisfied for four hundred & Seventy Acres of land being part of a Survey land balance belonging to Thomas Jordan being in the County of Henry on little Wigeon a branch of Smith River the land divided between the said William & John McAlexander by dividing to William a South West Corse, Laying Next his own premises dividing by little Wigion down to the mouth of a little branch thence up a Mountain to the line the whole of William & John McAlexanders part being bounded as followeth (Viz) Begining at a white oak and thence New lines North Eighty degrees West forty four poles to a Chesnut tree North fifty nine degrees West twenty eight poles to a hickory North Sixty Six degrees West Seventy four poles to a Spanish Oak North five degrees East fifty four poles to a white oak North thirty Seven degrees East one hundred & twenty poles to a Red North thirty one degrees West Eighty poles to a Chesnut tree north Sixty Six poles to a Maypoles North thirty two degrees East Seventy Six poles to an Ash thence Jordans dividing line (Viz) Begining New Lines at a white Oak on the Creek North Seventy degrees West one hundred and Eighty Six poles Crossing two branches to pointers North fifty eight degrees West One hundred and fifty Six poles to the ash before Mentioned then Return to the old line on the Creek to the white Oak Corner thence Crossing the same South forty Six degrees West Eighty eight poles to a Chesnut tree South thirty five degrees East thirty eight poles to a black gum South five degrees West forty poles to a Chesnut tree on a branch South Sixty degrees West two hundred and two poles Crossing the aforesaid branch to the begining. To have and to hold the said tract of Land to them and their heirs forever & the said John Ward and his Wife their heirs &c doth Covenant and agree to and with the said William & John McAlexander and to their heirs forever that the said John Ward & his Wife their heirs Executors Administrators will Warrent and forever defend the said tract of land from any let or hindrance of them the said John Ward and his Wife or their heirs &c. from the lawfull Claim of any person or persons Whatsoever.
