VA Henry County, Va., Deed Book 4, pp. 162-163 Grantor: John WARD Grantees: William McALEXANDER John McALEXANDER 250 Acres of Land Date: 5 August 1790 THIS INDENTURE Made this fifth day of August One thousand Seven hundred and Ninety between John Ward of Campbell Cty of the one part & William McAlexander of Henry County and John McAlexander of Amherst County of the other part Witnesseth that the said John Ward for and in Consideration of twenty pounds to him in hand paid the Receipt whereof he doth hereby Acknowledge and himself fully Satisfied for two hundred and fifty Acres by Survey bearing date the twentieth day of November One thousand Seven hundred and Sixty eight Lying and being in the County of Pittsylvania on the Waters of Gils Creek and bounded as followeth, to wit, Beginning on the top of a Mounting at a Hickory thence New lines South thirty two degrees West Eighty fore poles to a Chesnut tree South fifty degrees East twenty eight poles to a white Oak in a branch South Eighteen degrees West thirty Six poles Crossing Gills Creek to a hickory South forty four degrees East one hundred and Sixty four poles to a poppolar South Seventy one degrees West thirty poles to a Spanish Oak South forty fore degrees East fifty Six poles to a Chesnut tree North twenty degrees East thirty four poles to Pointers in Kindrick's lines thence the same North thirty degrees West Seventy two poles to his Corner Spanish Oak North Seventy three degrees East One hundred poles to his own line thence New lines North twenty degrees West Ninety one poles to a black Walnut tree North thirty fore degrees West forty Six poles to a Chesnut tree at the foot of the said Mounting thence along the same North Seventy two degrees West One hundred and forty Six poles to the first Station To have and to hold the said tract of land to them and their heirs forever and the said John Ward his heirs &c. doth Covenant and agree to and with the said John & William McAlexander and to their heirs forever that the said John Ward his heirs Executors & Administrators will Warrent and forever defend the said track of land from any let or hindrance of him the John Ward his heirs &c. from the lawfull Claim of any person Whatsoever in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the day and date above Written --- Signed Sealed and Delivered In Presents of John Ward L.
