During a hearing in Henry County Trial Justice Court, Mrs. Hall testified that she shot her husband in self defense after she had suffered painful injuries when he attacked her during an argument. Officers called to the scene following the shooting found Hall, 35, in bed and fully clothed. Taken to Martinsville General Hospital, he died the next day as the result of an abdominal wound. Substantiating testimony by Mrs. Hall that her husband had attacked her while he was intoxicated, Henry County Officer Arto Haley said that Hall appeared to be in a drunken condition when he was removed from his farm home near here to the hospital. Mrs. Hall, who officers said had several cuts and bruises about the head when they were called to investigate the shooting, appeared in court today wearing a bandage on her forehead.
