THE HENRY BULLETIN, Martinsville, Va., Fri., Aug. 3, 1934, p. 2, col. 4 
[edited].  Mrs. Jane Ross Bryant, 86, widow of the late Rev. Alex B. Bryant, 
passed away at her home on South Broad street Tuesday morning following a long 
decline in health.  Mrs. Bryant suffered a stroke of paralysis about two years 
ago from which she failed to fully recover.  The deceased, a native of the 
Buffalo Ridge section of Patrick county, spent her entire life there until her 
removal five years ago to Martinsville to reside with her children.  Her 
husband, who was a well known minister of the Baptist church in Patrick county, 
preceded her to the grave about 15 months ago.  She was married over 63 years 
ago.  Surviving are the following sons and daughters:  Messrs. W. A. Bryant, 
Philadelphia;  S. J. Bryant, Buffalo Ride;  Home B. Bryant, Martinsville;  
Judson T. Bryant, Akron, Ohio;  Mrs. J. A. Foley, Buffalo Ridge;  Mrs. J. F. 
Pilson, Vinton, and one sister, Mrs. C. S. Pedigo of Fincastle, also remain, as 
well as a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Funeral 
services were held from the late home Wednesday morning.  The remains were then 
carried to the former home at Buffalo Ridge where burial was made in the family 
cemetery.  Her grandsons acted as pall bearers and grand daughter the flower 
bearers.

Additional Comments:
She was preceded in death by the Reverend Alexander Bryant who was the minister at 
Sycamore Baptist Church in Woolwine for many years.
