Cemetery Location:  On the Hiner land, near Mill Gap, Virginia, post office.
                    Highland County, Virginia

1843, date of oldest inscription.

OWNERS:

Misses Lucy and Elizabeth Hiner, present owners. (1936)

DESCRIPTION:

This is a private graveyard of the Chestnut, Bird and Hiner families.  It is in 
very good condition, enclosed with a wire fence.  Some of the oldest graves have 
no markers.

HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE:

The Chestnut and Bird families were among the first people to settle in this 
vicinity.  They came here about 1780.
