HIGHLAND COUNTY, VA - CEMETERIES – Peck Cemetery ----¤¤¤---- Source: Library of Virginia Digital Collection LVA Titled Files: Survey Report, Peck graveyard: 1936 Sept. 28 Research made by Howard Hiner Cemetery Location: 6 miles north of Monterey, Virginia near the Forks of Waters. Highland County, Virginia DATE: 1810, date of oldest grave. OWNERS: Jacob Peck and his descendants, P.E. Puffenberger, present owner. (1936) DESCRIPTION: The area of this graveyard is about one hundred square feet. It is surrounded by a wire fence and is kept in fair condition. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The Pecks were among the first settlers of this locality. Jacob Peck purchased the property from Garret Peck in 1796. It consisted of 106 acres and the purchase price was $333.33. Inscriptions: G.P. D.S. July 1st, 1810 L.H. Died June 29, 1845 Age 21 yr, 19 ds. SOURCES OF INFORMATION: Informant: P.E.
