Samples. Highland County, Virginia DATE: 1828 OWNERS: John Samples and his descendants, T.H. Samples, present owner. (1936) DESCRIPTION: This small private graveyard is in fair condition. It is enclosed and is kept free of brush. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: John Samples came here from Kentucky in 1810. He was a hat maker. His Wife, Nancy Samples was the first person buried here.
