HIGHLAND COUNTY, VA - CEMETERIES – Unnamed Cemetery ----¤¤¤---- Source: Library of Virginia Digital Collection LVA Titled Files: Survey Report, Unnamed graveyard: 1937 Feb. 10 Research made by Howard Hiner Cemetery Location: 6 miles north of McDowell, Virginia on Siron Woodell farm. Highland County, Virginia DATE: None. OWNERS: Siron Woodell (1937) DESCRIPTION: This is a small Graveyard which has been long out of use. It was at one time enclosed with a fence, as portions of the old fence are lying around. But at present it is exposed to an open pasture and stock graze over it. Only a few stone lying around mark the graves. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: No particulars are known as to who was buried here, from the few initials on the markers, and from the people of the community, it is thought that either Hicklin’s or Hiner’s and probably some Wilson’s were buried here. The only inscription is: S.H. D. Feb. 1851 SOURCES OF INFORMATION: This information was obtained from visit to the site, from Siron Woodell owner of the farm.
