"Wm Ami Trainer Dead.

Reliable information has been received here that Wm Ami Trainer of Red Holes,
Bath county, son of M[ichael] Trainer, of Meadow Dale, this Co., committed
suicide last Wednesday [Tuesday?], by eating strychnine.  Mr. Trainer is
reported to have retained consciousness, up to his last moments, expressing his
desire to die.

Remains of the deceased passed through town last night to be laid to rest by the
side of his mother [Rachel Virginia (Gum) Trainer] near Meadow Dale as he
requested.

Mr. Trainer was a brave Confederate Soldier and an honerable [sic] peaceable
citizen." END
