Isle Of Wight County, Virginia DATE: Unknown. OWNERS: P. D. Gwaltney Jr. Estate. (1936) DESCRIPTION: This cemetery is not kept up. It was necessary to cut down branches and bushes to get to them. One was a flat stone and the others were sitting up. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: In Memoriam Joseph Conway Eldest son of G.R. & G.T. Atkinson Born June 2, 1845 Died August 10, 1858 Obedient, faithful, tender, fond and kind, For thirteen years we fondly saw him romp; Diffusing fragrance, like some tender flower. Around the soft endearing hearth of home. We weep: Obliterate the holy tear, Faith lends her aid because affection’s load, We ever mourn our child upon the brier We blindly yield an angel to his God. In Memory of Mary Dade daughter of George R. and Georgiana T. Atkinson Born Jany. 14, 1848 Died June 30, 1848 Too pure for Faith. Joseph Atkinson Died 14th September 1832 Aged 56 years This stone is erected to his memory by his affectionate wife Margaret K.
