From Smithfield, go 2 miles west on Route #158; thence 4 miles south on Route #620; thence .5 mile west. Isle Of Wight County, Virginia DATE: Unknown. OWNERS: Relatives of Colonel Hall. (1936) DESCRIPTION: A private burying ground at the old Hall home in which only three person seem to have been buried. It is enclosed by a brick wall which has been cemented over, and is in very good condition. It is kept and cared for by relatives of Colonel Hall. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: It is not known when this cemetery was established; it certainly dates back to 1822, as that date is given as the date when Mary Hall, wife of George Hall, died and was buried in the cemetery. It is a family burying ground, and all buried there are presumably of the Hall family. From the inscription on her tomb, Anna Dardin was an estimable woman, and lived her full three score years and ten, dying at the age of seventy-one. The following names and inscriptions may be seen in the Hall Cemetery: In Memory of Anna Dardin who was born June 28, 1783 and died October 9th, 1854 Her Amiability and purity of life was the respect and affection of all. Though born deaf and dumb, she was remarkably intelligent, understood and embraced the Christian faith and so exemplified it in her life as to justify the hope that she had gone to him who made the deaf hear and the dumb to speak.
