HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE:

In Memory of
Thomas C. Holleman
who was born September 12, 1838
Died Feb. 8, 1858
Age 19 years, 4 mos. and 26 days
It is seldom that more of the better phases of human
hopes and joys are concentrated in one young man than
in the subject of this epitaph.  And it may well sadden
the heart of short sighted man to see so much of true
piety and of the Christian graces united with so great
capacities for usefulness thus removed from our midst.

Susan Benham
Consort of Capt. E. Benham
Died May 11, 1848
Aged 74 years.

Joel Holleman
Died August 1, 1844
in the 45th year of his age
The marriage to which he had already
attained in the legal profession was
but the beginning of what he might 
have done had he not been called on a
different sphere.  He was honored with
various public posts.  He graced the ___
of his state and of the nation.  He was 
successfully chosen to a seat in both 
branches of the Virginia Legislature and 
the House of Representatives of the 
United States.  Was subsequently of
the house of delegates of Virginia and was at
the time of his death delegate clerk to that
body.  Cut off in the maturity of his mind,

wife of Dr. J. N. Atkinson
who departed this life
August 6, 1858
in her 42nd year.
A dutiful daughter
A devoted and faithful wife
An affectionate mother and
Sincere Christian
