Southall Son of Mary & James Southall Born the 28th Dec. 1816 and departed this life 22nd June 1836 Mrs. Mary M. Southall Born June 23rd 1784 Died Sep’t 12th 1849 Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord. Erected by her daughter Sacred to the memory of Eliza A. Consort of T.H. Southall who departed this life July 5th 1831 in the 33rd year of her age But why fond memory – why recall Thos’ claims which late such pleasure gave Since now Eliza, raft of all lies cold The tenant of the grave; Mute is that voice, whose accent sweet The ear of fond attention drew Still is that heart, which constant beat To every gentle virtue true. Sacred to the memory of Alethea Ann Daughter of Turner and Alice Ann Southall Who departed this life On the 6th day of Sept. 1842 In the 6th year of her age Fair flower of Immortal earth To thee the crown is given Thy bud though blasted on the earth Is blossoming in heaven. This marble is erected to the memory of Dr. Turner H. Southall Who was born June 8, 1801 And departed this life June 2nd 1845 In the 44th year of his age. Todd Who was born on the 4th day of Oct. 1796 And departed this life Dec. 22nd 1816 This stone is erected by a fond father To the memory of William D. Agnes A. James M. & Louise A. Southall Who departed this life April 9th 1833 Aged 3 years 9 months Thy life sweet girl, like pearly dew Blest and adorned the opening day Then in a moment sped from view As if too bright on earth to stay. To the memory of Mallory Todd Who was born June the 1st 1742 And departed this life The 4th of November 1817 He was said to have been the first white child born at Battery Park. The Todd’s being one of the oldest Virginia Families. And it was he who cured the first Smithfield Ham.
