The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************** Isle of Wight Co., VA, Order Book 1795-1797, p. 248 abstracted by Matt HARRIS [brackets & surname capitalization mine] [p] 248 At a Court held for the County of Isle of Wight the Seventh Day of December In the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and Ninety five- Present James WILLS Francis BOYKIN &} George BENN Thomas KING } Gentlemen Justices- - On the Motion of Zilpha VAUGHAN, who made Oath thereto According to Law, and together with Joseph HOLMES her Security, entered into and Acknowledged their bond in the Penalty of Five hundred Pounds with Condition as the Law directs Certificate is granted her for Obtaining letters of Administration on the Estate of Francis VAUGHAN decd: in due form- - Ordered that Mills LAWRANCE, John DUCK, Elijah JOHNSON, and Wade MOUNTFORTT, Or any three of them being first sworn before a Justice of the Peace for the said County Appraise in Current Money the Slaves (if any) and Personal Estate of Francis VAUGHAN decd: and return the Appraisement to the Court- - Joseph VAUGHAN Orphan of Francis VAUGHAN decd: with the Approbation of the Court made Choice of Zilpha VAUGHAN for his Guardian, who together with Joseph HOLMES her Security entered into and Acknowledged their Bond in the Penalty of five Hundred Pounds with Condition as the law Directs for Securing the said Orphan's Estate and Indemnifying the Court- - On the Motion of Zilpha VAUGHAN she is appointed Guardian to Polly, Patsey, Betsey, and Peggy VAUGHAN Orphans of Francis VAUGHAN decd: who together with Joseph HOLMES her Security entered into and Acknowledged their bond in the Penalty of Five Hundred Pounds with Condition as the Law directs for Securing the said Orphans Estate and Indemnifying the Court- - The Last Will and Testament of Jacob WHEELER decd: Presented in Court by Benjamin DARDEN the Executor therein Named who made Oath thereto According to Law, and the same being proved by the Oaths of Jacob JOHNSON, and James TALLOUGH Senior two of the Witnesses thereto and Ordered to be Recorded, And On the Motion of the said Executor who together with James TALLOUGH & Jacob JOHNSON his Security entered into into [sic] And Acknowledged their bond in the Penalty of five hundred Pounds with Condition as the law directs Certificate is Granted him for Obtaining a Probat thereof in Due form- - Ordered that John DARDEN Matthew DAUGHTRY, Kinchen DARDEN, and Solomon EDMUNDS, or any three of them being first Sworn before a Justice of the Peace for the said County, Appraise in Current Money the Slaves (if any), and personal Estate of Jacob WHEELER decd: & return the Appraisement to the Court- - A bill of Sale between Joseph HOLLEMAN, Wilson HOLLEMAN, Edmund HOLLEMAN, John HOLLEMAN, William WHITE and Mary his wife Phillip THOMAS & Lucy his wife of the One part, & Moreland DELK, of the Other Part was fully proved by Elizabeth W.
