Petition to Court & Agreement 

To the Worshippfull their maiestie's Justices for the Isle of Wight County 
Thomas GROSS humbly Showeth that m:r Thomas PITT in his life time & this 
pett:r had Som difference a bout this pett:rs Land which difrence was fully 
ended & Concluded before Coll: Arthur SMITH & Cap:t Henry APPLEWAITE which the 
Said m:r PITT did reduce into writing under his own hand which was left in the 
hands of ye Said Coll: SMITH to which ye Said Coll: SMITH & Cap:t APPLEWITE 
are witnesses: and this pett:r Considering that all men are mortall & that 
that writing being all that this pett:r hath to Show for his Said land, if 
Coll: SMITH Sholde die would be loste, this pett:r doth desier therfor that 
Coll: SMITH might produce ye Same to the Court y.t [that] this pett:r may have 
it recorded & this pett:r shall pray and &.

Thes Presents witnesseth that Thomas GROSE & Thomas PITT bothe of the Isle of 
Wight County have mutually a Gread betwene them for & Conserning the Land in 
diference betwene them Videleset[?] that Thomas PITT is to let Tho: GROSE his 
heyres exeq.rs or assines all his wright title & Intrust of the land the Saide 
GROSE now houlds up as farr as Coll. BRIDGERS now line to his heyres and 
Assines for Ever. in as Large manner as ye Sd Tho: PITT Shall hould it by 
vertue of an yexcheat the Sd Thomas GROSE paying unto Tho: PITT his heyres 
exeq.rs administra.rs and

Assines Six thousand pounds of tobacco and Caske at two payments that is three 
thousand redy downe & three thousand ye next yeare if M.r Nicholas SMITH wants 
in his breadth of two hundred acers runing his mill according to patting and 
Comes Soe much as thare wanting in ye breadth tho: PITT is to make Good 
proporsinable out of ye Six thousand pounds of tobacco accounting the land to 
be the 200 Acres that Tho: GROSE now houlds
