Beverly Randolph Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia to all to whom these presents shall come Greeting Know ye that by Virtue and in Consideration of part of a Land Office Treasury Warrant Number twenty thousand eight hundred & Seventy eight, Issued the twenty ninth day of November one thousand Seven hundred and Eighty three, There is granted by the said Commonwealth unto Joseph Britt a Certain tract or parcel of Land, Containing six hundred Acres, by Survey bearing Date nineteenth day of October one thousand Seven hundred and Eighty five Lying and being in the County of Isle of White and bounded as followeth To wit Beginning at a Red oak corner of William Downing, running North Seventeen degrees East one hundred and ninety poles to a hickory a Corner of William Moore Thence North thirty six degrees West twenty eight poles North nine degrees West twenty poles to a red oak a corner of John Thomas thence North sixty three degrees East one hundred and fourteen poles to a pine a Corner of the said Thomas thence South East one hundred and four poles to a pine a Corner tree of Thomas Gale thence South thirty two degrees West one hundred and sixty six poles, South forty degrees West, twenty eight poles, South thirty five degrees East one hundred and twenty poles North thirty degrees East Eighty poles to a red oak a Corner of Thomas Gale thence North seventy degrees East two hundred and thirty poles to a Light wood Stump William Blunts Corner thence South forty two degrees West one hundred and ten poles, South fifty six degrees West three hundred and forty poles to a red oak a Corner of William Edwards, thence South sixty three degrees East Eighty poles to a pine a Corner of the said Edwards, thence South thirty eight degrees West two hundred Poles to Black Water Road thence North four hundred & twenty poles to the Beginning with its appurtenances to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of Land, with its appurtenances to the said Joseph Britt and his heirs forever In witness whereof the said Beverly Randolph Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia hath [page break] [p.] 383 hereunto Set his hand And caused the lesser Seal of the Said Commonwealth to be Affixed at Richmond On the twenty Sixth day of May in the Year of Our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred And eighty Nine and of the Commonwealth thirteenth, Bev: Randolph [margin note] Joseph Britt 52 acres Isle of Wight.
