This deed made this 22nd day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand, 
eight hundred, and eighty four, between George W. Watson and Narcissa S. his 
wife of the County of Isle of Wight in the State of Virginia of the one part 
and Calvin D. Holladay of the same County and State of the other part 
Witnesseth:  that all consideration of the sum of one hundred and forty 
dollars the said George W. Watson and Narcissa S. his wife do grant with 
general warranty unto the said Calvin D. Holladay and to his heirs and assigns 
forever the following real estate to wit:  a certain piece and parcel of land 
lying and being in the County of Isle of Wight containing five acres situated 
in Rascoe Neck in the County of Isle of Wight and adjoining the lands of 
Calvin D. Holladay it being a part of the land which the said Narcissa S. 
Watson inherited from her father, Joseph Holladay together with all and 
singular appurtenances belonging to the same.  And the said George W. Watson 
and Narcissa his wife covenant that they have the right to convey the said 
land to the said grantee that the said grantee shall have [quiet] possession 
of the said land; that they have done no act to encumber the said land and 
that they will execute such further assurances  of the said land as may be 
requisite.

State of Virginia, County of Isle of Wight to wit:
I, R. S. Thomas a Notary Public in and for the County aforesaid in the State 
of Virginia do certify that Narcissa S. Watson the wife of George W. Watson 
whose names are signed to the writing above bearing date this 22nd day 
February, 1884 personally appeared before me in the County aforesaid and being 
duly examined by me privily and apart from her husband and knowing the writing 
aforesaid fully explained to her she the said Narcissa S. Watson acknowledged 
the said writing to be her act and declared that she had willingly executed 
the same and does not wish to retract it.  Given under this my hand 
22nd day of February, eighteen hundred and eighty four.

Virginia, County of Isle of Wight to wit:  I, Jas. S. Davis Justice of the 
Peace in and for the said County in the State of Virginia do certify that 
George W. Watson whose name is signed to the writing above bearing date 22nd 
day of February 1884, has acknowledged the same before me in the county of 
aforesaid given under my hand this 27th day of February 1884.

In the Clerk's Office of the County Court of Isle of Wight County, the 17th 
day of March 1884 this deed from Geo. Watson and wife to Calvin D. Holladay 
was admitted to record annexed certificates of R. S. Thomas, Notary Public 
and James S. Davis,Justice of the Peace.
