Know Ye that for divers good causes & Consideration but more especially for & in Consideration of the Importation of two persons to dweth within this our Colony of Virginia whose names are Wm Clark & Mary Grififh & also for & in Consideration of the sum of twenty five Shillings of good & Lawful money for our use paid to our Receiver General of our Revenues pg. 112 within this our said Colony & Dominion of Virginia We have Given, Granted and Confirmed & by these present for us our heirs & Successors do Give Grant & Confirm unto John Barnes of this County of Isle of Wight one certain tract or parcel of Land containing three hundred & forty acres being & being on the south side of his main blackwater swamp in the said County of Isle of Wight and bounded as followeth to wit beginning at a white oak on the south west side of the flagg swamp a corner of Barnaby Mackenny's Land thence by the said Mackenny's line south forty degrees west forty poles to a pine west south west one hundred eighty seven poles to a pine south sixty degrees, west eighty pole t a poplar & south forty degrees west one hundred & ten pole to a hickory a Line ____ of Capt. Rich.d Exunis Land & a corner of Mr. Rich.d Washington's then by the said Washington's line south sixty four degrees East sixty one pole to a white oak South forty four degrees East fifty nine pole to a pine and south thirty three degrees east sixty pole to a red oak then north east by east two hundred & four pole to a red oak saplin over a small branch a corner of Edw.d Goodson's & Matt.w Rishin's Land then by the said Goodson's & Rishin's lines north one hundred & one pole South seventy degrees east fifty pole to a red oak saplin & north seven degrees east one hundred & six pole to a poplar by a branch side then down the various courses of the run of the s.d branch to the flagg swamp and by the various courses of the run of the said swamp to the beginning with all &c.
