Know ye that for divers good causes and consideration but more especially for & in consideration of his Importation of two persons to dwellth with in this our Colony of Virginia whose names are Abrahams Brawler and Mary Brawler We have given granted and confirmed and by these presents for us our heirs & Successors do give grant, & confirm unto James Barnes of the County of Isle of Wight one certain tract or parcel of Land containing one hundred acres lying and being on the south side of the main black water Swamp in the said County and bounded as followeth, to wit, beginning at a lightwood post a Corner 'twixt Wm. Thomas and the said Barnes, thence by Barnes's old lines north eighty poles to a red oak and north by east fifty Six pole to a pine then east one hundred and twenty pole to a Spanish oak, then south one hundred and thirty five pole to a red oak and west one hundred & thirty two pole to the first (Staron?) With all &c. To have hold &c. To be held &c. Yeilding and paying &c. Provided &c. In Witness &c. Witness our Trusty & welbeloved Alexander Spotswood our Lt. Governor &c. At.
