VA Isle of Wight Co., VA, Deed Book 7, pp. 32-33 29 Dec 1744 James BASDEN Sr. to James BASDEN Jr. Deed of Gift To all Christian People to whom these Presents shall come, I James BASDEN of Nottoway Parish in the County of Isle of Wight send Greeting Know Ye, That I James BASDEN for and in Consideration of the Love & good Will & Affection which I have and do bear unto my Loving Son James BASDEN Jun:r of the afores.d County and Parish Have Given and Granted and Do by these Presents fully freely Clearly and Absolutely Give and Grant unto the s.d James BASDEN Junior and to his Heirs forever one certain Tract or Parcell of Land lying and being in the County of Isle of Wight on the South side the main Blackwater and Bounded as followeth Begining at a red Oak then North Eighty degrees West Eighty nine Pole to a red Oak then North five degrees East Eighty Eight Pole to two small Spanish Oaks then East two Hundred forty two Pole to a red Oak then South One Hundred Pole to a red Oak & white Oak and West One Hundred Pole to the Begining [page break] Begining, as by Patent Granted the s.d Land to Richard LEWIS bearing date October the 31.st One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixteen also one other Tract or Parcell of Land Joining to the above mentioned Land and Bounded as followeth Begining at a Pine then South to a Pine in a Branch which is between the s.d James BASDEN and John WRIGHT then joining on William COLSON's Land; and the above mentioned Land, the two above mentioned Tracts or Parcells of Land Containing one hundred Seventy five Acres be the same more or less, together with all Rights, Titles, Interests Claim & Demand whatsoever which I have or any or either of my Heirs Extors: Admors: and Assigns to or in the s.d Lands & Premises or any Part thereof To have and to Hold the above Granted Lands and Premises with the Appurtenances thereunto belonging to him the s.d James BASDEN Junior & his Heirs forever And I the s.d James BASDEN have fully freely and Absolutely and of my Own accord set and Put for further Testament In Witness whereof I have have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this 29: day of December One Thousand Seven Hundred forty and four- James BASDEN *Seal* Signed Sealed } In Presence of} W.m ELEY, James KITCHING} John LOWE-} At a Court held for Isle of Wight County February 25:th 1744 James BASDEN came into Court and Acknowledged his Deed of Gift to his Son James BASDEN which is Ordered to be Recorded.
