VA Isle of Wight Co., VA, Deed Book 7, pp. 34-36 22 Feb 1744 James BASDEN Sr. to John LOWE Deed of Bargain & Sale This Indenture made the Twenty Second day of February in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred forty and four, Between James BASDEN of Nottoway Parish of Isle of Wight County of the One Part and John LOWE of the same County and Parish of the other Part Witnesseth That the s.d James BASDEN for and in Consideration of the Sum of Seventeen Pounds Current Money to him in Hand Paid by the s.d John LOWE the Receipt whereof he doth hereby Confess & Acknowledge and himself fully Satisfied & Paid & thereof doth acquit and discharge the said John LOWE Hath Grant'd Bargained & Sold and Do by these Presents, Grant, Bargain and Sell unto the said John LOWE his Heirs Extors, Admors., and Assigns one Certain Tract or Parcell of Land lying and being in the Isle of Wight County on the South side the main Blackwater and Bounded as followeth, Begining at a Pine standing in a Branch called the line, then to a Pine in Tarrapin Branch then down Tarrapin Branch to an Ashe a little below a Point then South Twenty Degrees East according to the Courses of the Patent to a white Oak in Seacock then down the Various Courses of the Run of Seacock to the mouth of the line Branch & up the s.d line Branch to the first Begining the s.d Land Containing One Hundred Seventy five Acres be the same more or less Also the Reversion and Revertions, Remainder and Remainder To Have and to Hold the s.d Land and Tenements with all the Appurtenances unto the s.d John LOW and his Heirs forever To the only use and Behoof of him the s.d John LOWE and his Heirs forever And the s.d James BASDEN his Heirs and Assigns the above Granted Lands and Premises with all the Appurtenances unto the s.d John LOWE his Heirs Extors Admors and Assigns and against all & every other Person or Persons whatsoever shall and will Warrant and forever by these Presents Defend. And the s.d James BASDEN for himself his Heirs Extors.
