VA Isle of Wight Co., VA, Deed Book 7, pp. 110-11 22 Apr 1745 James BASDEN Sr. to John DUNKLEY Deed of Mortgage This Indenture made the 22:d Day of April In the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred Forty & five Between James BASDEN of the County of Isle of Wight of the one Part and John DUNKLEY Gentleman of the County afores.d of the other Part, Witnesseth That the s.d James BASDEN for and in Consideration of the Sum of Seventeen Pounds Curr.t Money of Virginia to him in Hand Paid by the said John DUNKLEY before the Sealing & Delivery hereof The Receipt whereof the s.d James BASDEN doth hereby Acknowledge Hath Granted Bargained and Sold and Doth by these Presents Grant Bargain and Sell unto the s.d John DUNKLEY his Heirs and Assigns a certain Tract or Parcell of Land lying & being in the County afores.d and on the South side the Main Blackwater Swamp, Containing by Estimation Two Hundred and fifty Acres be the same moe or less, Bounded by the main Run of Seacock, Richard MATTHEWS's line, Hugh BASDEN's Line and Thomas JONES's line. Which s.d Land the s.d James BASDEN Purchased of William RAIFORD as by Deeds, Recorded in the County Court of Isle of Wight afores.d Relation being thereunto had more fully and at large appear. And the Reversion and Reversions, Remainder & Remainders Rents, Issues, & Profits thereof And all the Estate, Right Title Interest and Demand whatsoever of him the s.d James BASDEN and his Heirs of in or to the same or any Part thereof To have & to hold The s.d Tract or Parcell of Land & all and Singular the Appurtenances before by these Presents Bargained and Sold unto the s.d John DUNKLEY his Heirs Extors: Admors: and Assigns forever. Provided always and it is further agreed between the s.d Parties to these Presents that if the s.d James BASDEN his Heirs Ex:rs or Admors or any of them shall and do well & truly Pay or Cause to be Paid to the s.d John DUNKLEY his Extors, Admors or Assigns the s.d Sum of Seventeen Pounds Current Money at or before the Twenty fifth Day of March which shall be in the Year of our Lord MDCCL.
