ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, VA - DEEDS - Joseph BRIDGER & wife Hester to Joan WILLIAMSON BURNETT & son Robert WILLIAMSON Jr. 8 Aug 1683 Assignment of Patent ----¤¤¤---- [p.] 504 To all to whome these p'sents shall come I Joseph BRIDGER of the Isle of Wight County in the Collony of Virginia Esq.r send greeting Whereas Robert WILLIAMSON Doctor in Phisick late of the County afores'd dec'ed did by his last Will and Testam.t bearing date the Sixteenth day of Feb.r A.n Dom 1669 [WD2:85-87] give and bequeath to Joan his Wife all the Plantaçon whereon he then lived scituate on y.e Branches of Pagan Creek in the Isle of Wight County afores'd w.th all & singular the houses Edifices Orchards Gardens & all the apperten'ces thereunto belonging to be held and enjoyed by his said Wife for and dureing her Naturall life and from and imediately after the decease of his said Wife then he did give and bequeath his said Plantaçon with the apperten'ces thereunto belonging to his Eldest Sonne Robert WILLIAMSON and to his heires for ever, Now for asmuch as the said plantaçon is P/te of Eight hundred & fifty Acres of Land formerly belonging unto M.r Nathaniel FLOYD late of the County afores'd and since the decease of the said WILLIAMSON was found to Escheat to his most sacred Majestie and granted to me by Pattent bearing date the 22.th of July 1678 Now know yee therefore that I the s'd Joseph BRIDGER, Esq.r as well for and in Consideraçon of A valluable sume of Tob ["& Cask" inserted] to me paid before the sealing hereof as alsoe for diverse other good causes and consideraçons me hereunto moveing have bargained sell and deliver unto the abovenamed Joan now Relict of m.r Robert BURNETT dec'ed for and dureing her Naturall life and imediately after her decease unto Robert WILLIAMSON Sonne of the aboves'd Robert WILLIAMSON dec'ed and to his heires for ever all that Plantaçon or parcell of Land abovemençoned formerly sold by Cap.t Francis HOBBS & Mary his Wife unto the said WILLIAMSON dec'ed from the bounds of the s'd WILLIAMSON's ["Williamsons"] Land mentioned in A Conveyance dated in October 1661 from a Creek called Floyds Creek to a Tall m'ked Cedar, standing by the Creek side and from thence along as the Fence runneth formerly called Redlyes[?] fence to a fence Runing to the said HOBB's ["Hobbs"] Landing Which was formerly called M.r GOULDSMITH Landing to A Cedar standing by y.e landing And from thence to a Creek called Sewards Creek includeing the said Fence and all the Land within the said Bounds To have and to hold the s'd Plantaçon or Parcell of Land w.th all & singular the houses Orchards Gardens Woods Waies & Waters and all other the proffitts priveledges and Emolum.ts thereof or thereunto belonging unto the s'd Joan dureing her natturall life & from & imediately after her Decease to the [page break] [p.] 505 [struck through, and written in a more modern script] The aforesaid Robert WILLIAMSON and his heires for ever, in as full & ample manner as I the s'd BRIDGER might or could have enjoyed the same by vertue of the forerecited Pattent Shee or they paying to the s'd BRIDGER & Assignes for ever on the Tenth of October yearly the Quitrents of the said Land it being lawfully demanded or within dayes after such lawfull demand made and the ['said' omitted] BRIDGER doth hereby Covenant promise & grant to & with the persons abovemençoned that shee he or they shall have hold & peaceably enjoy all & every y.e premises w.th out any molestaçon of me my heires Ex.rs or any other person or persons whatsoever lawfully claymeing from by or under me them or any of them and when thereto desired to acknowledge this Deed togeather with my Wife or her lawfull Attorney for that purpose authorized in Open Co.rt to be held for the isle of Wight County afores'd In witness hereof I have hereunto sett my hand the Eighth of Aug.t 1683 - Jo.s BRIDGER seal Witness Ar ALLEN Acknowledged in Open Co.rt held for the Isle of Wight Robert SCOTT County Aug.t the 9.th 1683 by Co.ll Joseph BRIDGER, John KENICE and by L.t Co.ll John PITT Attorney in the behalfe of M.rs Hester the Wife of Co.ll BRIDGER, to be their free & voluntary Act & Deed And ordered to be Recorded Test John PITT Cl Cur Isle of Wight Co., VA, Record of Wills, Deeds, Etc., Vol. 1 (1662-1715), pp. 504-05 The Library of Virginia, Isle of Wight Co.
