VA Isle of Wight Co., VA, Deed Book 26, pp. 284-85 22 May 1824 Zebulon ELEY to Lemuel LOWE [margin note] exam.d & deli.d to Lem.l LOW Dec.r 6th 1824 This Indenture made the twenty second day of May one thousand eight hundred and twenty four: Between Zebulon ELEY of Southampton county and State of Virginia of the one part, and Lemuel LOWE of the county of Isle of Wight and said State of Virginia of the other part, Witnesseth that the said Zebulon ELEY for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars current money of Virginia to him in hand paid the receipt of the said Zebulon ELEY doth hereby acknowledge, the said Zebulon ELEY have granted bargained and sold, aliened and conformed unto the said Lemuel LOWE his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land being in the county of Isle of Wight and bounded as follows by the lands of Willis ELEY orphan of John ELEY deceased John B. ELEY thence cornering at the line of Robert ELEYs heirs thence along the said heirs line to Exum ELEYs line to Allen GAYs line, thence along his line to Hezekiah RICHARDs line thence along said line to Hartwell ELEYs line a corner tree, thence along said line to said Willis ELEYs line the begining. with reference to a report of commissioner that divided all the lands of John ELEY deceased, which the said tract the said Zebulon ELEY drew as his equal portion of said John ELEY deceased, real estate and containing two hundred and ninety two acres be the same more or less which the said Lemuel LOWE is to have and to hold with all woods, underwoods, waters and water courses houses and chattels and all appurtenances therein belonging unto the said Lemuel LOWE to him and his heirs forever with all reversions, remainders, rents profits suffices emoluments of the said land and premises and every part or parcel thereof- To have and to hold the said land and premises with appurtenances unto the said Lemuel LOWE his heirs and assigns forever, and the said Zebulon ELEY for himself and his heirs Viz. the said land and premises, and every part or parcel thereof, and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever to the said Lemuel LOWE his heirs and assigns forever shall warrant and ever defend, the land and premises by these presents- In Witness whereof the said Zebulon ELEY hath put his hand and fixed his seal the day and year above written- Zebulon ELEY *Seal* Signed Sealed & delivered In presence of J H DUCK Joshua E.
