ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, VA - PATENTS - Francis ENGLAND 26 Jul 1652 946 acres: 746, Isle of Wight Co. 200, James City [Surry] Co. 120 acres, Isle of Wight Co. ----¤¤¤---- [p.] (110) To all &c whereas &c Now Know yee that I Richard BENNETT Esq.r &c give and grant Unto Francis ENGLAND Nine hundred forty Six Acres of Land and Scituating as Followeth Viz.t - Seven hundred forty Six Acres being in the County of the Isle of wight and lying on a Swamp runing to blackwater bounded along Capt PIERCE's Markt trees due west two hundred Eighty four poles thence South four hundred and twenty poles and thence North to Capt PIERCE's Corner tree where it first began, four hundred and twenty poles alsoe two hundred Acres of Land lying at blackwater Upon the Eastermost branch pointing Up to Upper Chipoaks in the County of James City bounded East Upon the Said Swamp, North Upon the Land of Francis ENGLAND Southward to the Lands of Peter HULL [HALL?] and west into the woods The Said Land being due Unto the Said Francis ENGLAND as Followeth Viz.t Seven hundred forty Six Acres part thereof being formerly granted Unto the Said Francis ENGLAND by patent Dated the 20.th of June 1642 and two hundred Acres the residue by Virtue of a patent granted to John WHITE dated the fourth of July 1649 and by the Said WHITE Assigned to the Said ENGLAND to have and to hold &c To bee held &c which payment is to be made Seven yeares after the first grant or Seating thereof and not before provided &c Dated the 26.th of July 1652 [margin notes] Ex.d To all &c whereas &c Now Know yee that I Richard BENNETT Esq.r &c give and grant Unto Francis ENGLAND one hundred and twenty Six Acres of Land lying in the Isle of wight County Near the Eastern branch of the blackwater begining at a Double Pohikere and runing East into the woods one hundred poles to a white oake then North one hundred and Sixty poles to a Markt pine then Northwest and by west one hundred and twenty poles to his own Land thence by his ans Richard JACKSON's Land two hundred twenty Seven poles to the first Station, The Said Land being due Unto the Said Francis ENGLAND by and for the transport of three persons into the Colony &c to have and to hold &c which payment is to be made Seven yeares after the first grant or Seating thereof and not before provided &c Dated the 26.th of July 1652 Jesse INGLAND; Tob: COOKE Thomas BARRET.
