ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, VA - PATENTS - Francis ENGLAND 29 Sep 1664 2366 acres, Isle of Wight Co. ----¤¤¤---- [p.] 462) [margin notes] Francis ENGLAND 2366 Acres Ex.d To all &c Whereas &c now Know ye That I the said Sir William BERKELEY Knight Governor &c give and grant unto Francis ENGLAND: Two thousand three hundred and sixty six Acres of Land lying in the Isle of Wight County Whereof Nine hundred and forty six Acres by a former Patent and one hundred and twenty Acres by another Patent both dated the thirteenth of January one thousand six hundred and sixty One [not found; two tracts (of 946 & 120 acres) pat'd 26 Jul 1652 (PB3:110)] the residue being thirteen hundred Acres being bounded thus Viz.t Four hundred Acres Beginning at a Corner tree of his Land by former Patent and runing south three hundred and forty Poles to two marked Pines, then south West by south one hundred Poles to a Pine, then West North West one hundred and thirty Poles to a Pine, and so still North to his former Land, then Two hundred Acres more adjoining to Two hundred Acres of Land which he Purchased of John WHITE: both these being this [underlined; 'thus' intended] Beginning at a Cypress in the Mouth of a branch called Hills branch and runing Up the said branch one hundred and sixty Poles to a White oak, then North East four hundred Poles to a Pine, then one hundred and sixty Poles to the swamp & to another parcel of M.r ENGLAND's Land and so down the swamp to the first Station. then Seven hundred Acres more Beginning at a Pine a Corner of M.r ENGLAND's Patent for One hundred and twenty Acres and runing thence North East by North two hundred Poles, then North East one hundred and fifty Poles, to Robert ELY's [ELEY] Corner tree, then North North West Eighty Eight Poles. then North seventy Poles, then North East by North Two hundred and forty Poles to a red oak, thence West South West one hundred and Twenty Poles to a red oak near the head of Taberer's branch, then down the said branch to Christopher LEWIS's Land and upon the said LEWIS's Land to the first Station.
